Steve Zafeiriou (b. 1998, Thessaloniki, GR) is a New Media Artist, Technologist, and Founder of Saphire Labs. His practice investigates how technology can influence, shape, and occasionally distort the ways individuals perceive the external world. By employing generative algorithms, electronic circuits, and interactive installations, he examines human behavior in relation to the illusory qualities of perceived reality, inviting observers to reconsider their assumptions and interpretations.

Description

Qualia by Nadia Koutziampasi is a performative exploration of our individual, subjectively constructed realities as they are perpetually reshaped by our conscious experiences.

Revolving around the continuous interplay of what we currently feel, what we remember, and what we anticipate, the work builds on embodied subjectivity to delve into the unique, first-person experience of the world, or the “what it is like” quality of consciousness.

Qualia is set in a chaotic, almost surreal universe defined by fragmentation, illusion, and in-betweenness, exposing conceptual tensions between physicality and virtuality, authenticity and fabrication, and hyperconnectivity and isolation.

Memories, lived experiences, and expectations – bridging the recollected past, perceived present, and imagined future – merge into idiosyncratic self-narratives that unfold and intertwine to create a fluid, pulsating mosaic of stories, identities, and meaning-making.
